SINGER-SONGWRITER David Francey will perform at the Catshill Social Club on Thursday (October 13).
The Scottish-born Canadian former carpenter, 61, who immigrated to Canada with his family at the age of 12, worked in rail yards and construction sites across the country and, while he did, he spent time setting melodies to poetry he had written.
His debut album ‘Torn Screen Door’ came out in 1999, when Francey was in his mid 40s. It was an instant hit in Canada, and gained him a huge amount of success.
He is billed as being a musician whose songs tell honest stories of real people and real places which provide a direct connection for audiences seeking depth and meaning in day-to-day life.
Since then, he has released 11 albums, won three Juno Awards and has had his songs covered by a number of artists.
Also performing in the latest event organised by Bromsgrove Folk Club will be James McKie.
Tickets will be £7 for members, £3.50 for under 25s and £9 for non members.
The doors will open at 7.40pm and the show starts at 8pm.
