ACCLAIMED singing group Kimber’s Men are coming to Fairfield Village Hall at 6.30pm tomorrow (Saturday).
The band, which has made numerous television appearances including Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, sing mainly a cappella sea songs and sea shanties.
Originally from Yorkshire, they have traveled nationwide and even into Europe to perform their music.
The men perform a ‘beautifully crafted mixture of standards, obscurities’ and original ‘shanty inspired’ songs written by band members.
Their original song ‘Don’t Take the Heroes’ was inspired by the Penlee lifeboat disaster and has been covered by numerous shanty bands.
As well as the a capella, the band plays a number of instruments including the banjo, guitar, harmonium low whistle, bodhran and occasionally English bagpipes.
Each concert is delivered with ‘power and enthusiasm’ and has the audience at its heart, mixing humorous moments alongside the musical performances.
Tickets are £9 for adults and £7 for children.
