Hagley Theatre Group to stage hit musical 'Little Shop of Horrors'

HAGLEY Theatre Group’s younger members are staging Alan Menken’s hit musical ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ from tomorrow (Wednesday) until Saturday, April 14.

Performances will take place at 7.30pm each night at Hagley Community Centre.

The play centres around hapless florist shop worker Seymour Krelborn who stumbles across a peculiar plant, known as Audrey, which has an unsavoury appetite. The plant changes the ailing shop’s fortunes but also starts to outgrow the premises, becoming more and more demanding.

A spokesperson for the group said: “The show has some considerable staging challenges with four different stages in a plant’s growth to dominance.”

The music, composed by Menken in the style of early 1960s rock and roll, doo-wop and early Motown, includes several well-known tunes, including the title song, ‘Skid Row (Downtown)’, ‘Somewhere That’s Green’, and ‘Suddenly, Seymour’.

Tickets are priced at £10 to £8 and are available by emailing [email protected] or by calling 07907 457217.

Alternatively, visit www.ticketsource.co.uk/hagleytheatregroup and buy tickets there.

The show is not suitable for under 12s.
