Free concert at Bromsgrove's St Andrew's Church to introduce residents to classical music

Bromsgrove Editorial 25th Jun, 2017   0

A FREE concert aimed at introducing people, young and old, to the joys of classical music will take place in Bromsgrove at 3pm next Saturday, July 1.

Musical Fantasy will be performed by The Orchestra of St John at St Andrew’s Church in Charford.

It will start at 3pm and last an hour and there will be ice creams afterwards.

The music will include pieces from Harry Potter, Fantasia, The Lion King and Indiana Jones. They will all be performed by the wind and brass musicians of the Orchestra of St John.

The orchestra’s manager Alastair Moseley said: “We know that many people are not familiar with classical music or even feel that it is elitist and inaccessible. “But the truth is that we are surrounded by classical music – just imagine your favourite film with no musical accompaniment.

“We are hoping that this short concert will attract as many people as the Church can hold and then make them want to come back for more.”

The free tickets, which include the ice creams, are available from St Andrew’s Church, or St John’s Church Parish Office or people can just turn up on the day.

Space is limited so reserving a ticket is recommended.

The concert is promoted by the Bromsgrove Festival as part of the Orchestra of St John’s ‘Bite Sized Classics’ series’.
