Folk rockers Quill back in the groove for a night of classic sounds

Bromsgrove Editorial 27th Jan, 2022   0

CLASSIC Midlands folk rock band Quill return to The Core Theatre in Solihull this Friday, February 4, with a great new show featuring an eclectic mix of stylish covers of well-known songs, original numbers and Quill standards.

Seven piece Quill consist of Joy Strachan-Brain lead vocals, Kate McWilliam, violin, John Jowitt on bass guitar, Lee T Evans on lead guitar, Abby Brant on keyboards, former Robert Plant drummer Andy Edwards and former Move, ELO and Black Sabbath drummer Bev Bevan on percussion.

Together they make a fabulous sound, earning rave reviews for their latest album Riding Rainbows.

So get ready for a fabulous night of music featuring quirky interpretations of classic hits like Blackberry Way, Telephone Line, Flowers in the Rain, Heaven and Hell and Don’t Bring me Down, plus original new songs like Grey Goose Call and Elephant in the Room and long standing favourites Say it Ain’t So, The Jig and Nine Mile Camp.

The big name in the line up may be Bev Bevan, a founder member of ELO, but there’s a wealth of musical talent in Quill’s ranks and if you’re not already a fan, you will be after seeing what promises to be a superb night of music.

Why? Because they draw on deep and diverse musical sources, and when long lifetimes of experience inform your stage craft and presentation, wonderfully interesting things can and do happen.

Tickets to see this great band are £20 from the box office on 0121 704 6962 or buy online at https://www.thecoretheatresolihull.co.uk/whats-on/all-shows/quill/25760/
