'Darts, cocktails and bragging rights' - Flight Club In Bloom summer cocktails

In the modern age of darts, where 17-year-old star Luke Littler is going toe to toe with the world’s best and helping propel the sport to new heights of popularity, Flight Club, a relatively new addition to the night life of England’s major cities is bringing the sport to the masses in a very approachable way.

We’d all love Russ Bray to be shouting out our 180’s and tallying up our scores in the local pub but instead we’re stuck awkwardly subtracting next to the dusty chalkboard before jotting our scores down with the remains of a stick of chalk.

Brilliantly, Flight Club, a social games bar with darts lanes – all washed down with alcohol and friendly competition – cuts that out for the player by keeping track of scores and offering up fast paced mini game alternatives to the real thing. This creates a free flowing enjoyable game of darts among friends without the frustration of tipsy maths thrown in.

Alongside a spot of darts, where I tried desperately to get bragging rights over my girlfriend, we visited Flight Club’s venue on Temple Street in Birmingham to try their new summer cocktail menu.

Flight Club launched its new ‘In Bloom’ cocktails to keep its players’ thirsts’ quenched with the flavours of summer.

From a spicy watermelon margarita to a botanical garden spritz, visitors can enjoy light and refreshing drinks all evening long.

Ranging from £11.50 to £11.95, the cocktails are competitively priced and take inspiration from both British and tropical summer produce.

With each cocktail, we enjoyed a pleasant and refreshing drink. By far my favourite was the spicy watermelon margarita. The subtle spice kick from the fresh chilli and Casamigos Blanco tequila were well balanced with sour lime juice and the palate cleansing garnish of cucumber. The cocktail was confidently propped up by tropical watermelon and citrus from Fair Kumquat triple sec.

Another highlight was the rhubarb bramble, offering up a staple of British summer produce to provide a sweet and tart drinking experience which tasted a little closer to home.

During our time sampling the menu, we also tried the botanical garden spritz which was easy drinking but not massively discernible to a typical gin and tonic and the emerald sunshine fizz which although was not to my palate would be a great option for any fans of banana and elderflower.

In total, the Flight Club In Bloom cocktail menu boasts seven options to compliment its huge array of other drinks. The cocktail menu launched on May 24 and runs all summer long.

The enjoyable cocktails were rounded off by a vibrant atmosphere in the venue and very helpful and friendly staff. More importantly, I left the experience slightly tipsy with my head held high after narrowly earning the bragging rights over my girlfriend.
