ACCLAIMED musicians The Britten Oboe Quartet will round off Bromsgrove Concerts’ latest programme next Friday (April 7) with a selection of classics.
Widely regarded as one of the finest oboists in the world, Nicholas Daniels founded the Quartet together with string players of the award-winning Britten Sinfonia. With the experience of playing together over many years their warm expressive sound makes for enjoyable playing.
Their programme includes classics from Mozart and Schubert, along with overlooked, tuneful gems from the 20th century, some written for the cor Anglais, the mellow cousin to the oboe.
Pieces will include Mozart’s Adagio for Cor Anglais and Strings, Lennox Berkeley’s Oboe Quartet, the Phantasy Quarted by Moeran and Schubert’s String Trio Movement in B Flat D471.
It will be concluded with Richard Rodney Bennett’s Arethusa Oboe Quartet and the Cor Anglais Quartet by Françaix.
Tickets, which are available in advance or on the door, are available in person from Artrix, online at www.artrix.co.uk or by calling 01527 577330.
The concert starts at 8pm.
