THE CREATORS of Birmingham’s new £7million LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre which is due to open in the city centre next July have given a sneak preview of the attraction.

The centre, which will be permanently housed in the former Barclaycard Arena and National Indoor Arena, is being specially designed from a child’s perspective and will feature ten themed LEGO play zones, two themed rides, a Build and Test area and a 4D cinema with capacity for 100 people.

Youngsters aged between three and ten will also be able to enjoy two to three hours of interactive and educational fun by jumping in the world’s biggest box of LEGO bricks.

The artist illustrations which have just been released show the bright and vibrant designs which will continue throughout the building and allow children to instantly immerse themselves into a world of colour, igniting their creativity and encourage playful learning.

As well as the play aspects there will also be a coffee shop and party rooms and a dedicated LEGO shop, along with a MINILAND dedicated to iconic landmarks and well-known buildings from Birmingham and the surrounding area.

A ground-breaking ceremony has been held to mark work getting under way on the project.

Amy Langham, The LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Birmingham’s General Manager, said: “We love the artist illustrations for the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Birmingham as they really bring to life the vibrant design of the attraction and give families a glimpse behind the scenes during the construction stages.

“It was amazing seeing how excited the children were at our ground breaking ceremony with just 90,000 LEGO bricks – imagine how they will be once our attraction opens next summer.”
