A LOCAL author will be signing copies of his book ‘A History of Rubery’ at a village cafe on Friday (March 31).

Deryk Whitfield will be at Polly Put the Kettle On between 10am and midday and from 2pm to 4pm to meet and greet residents and to chat about his book which looks at the village’s past.

Deryk lived in the village for 26 years with his wife Brenda, bringing up their family of three daughters and making many happy memories and friends in the area.

There will be copies of the book for sale at the cafe after today’s event.

The cafe’s owner Susan O’Leary said: “We are delighted he’s picked us and were hoping lots of Rubery folk, and our regular customers

will enjoy meeting and chatting about Rubery and its History, whilst of course eating our homemade cakes and drinking our pots of tea.”
