Bromsgrove and Redditch Rail User Partnership urging rail passengers to have their say in survey

Bromsgrove Editorial 14th Oct, 2022   0

RAIL USERS across the district are being urged to have their say on the Draft Worcestershire Rail Investment Strategy-2 Document.

The plea has been made by Bromsgrove and Redditch Rail User Partnership (BARRUP) which has already submitted its comments and wants others to do the same.

BARRUP is arguing for several improvements with the main one surrounding the hourly Cross Country Trains Nottingham to Cardiff Service which travels through Bromsgrove.

The group wants it to stop again at the town’s station so passengers can travel south to Worcestershire Parkway Station, Cheltenham Spa and onwards to the south and south west England without having to go through Birmingham New Street.

BARRUP also wants the current hourly West Midlands Trains bi-directional Birmingham New Street to Hereford service, which has only three train- a-day stopping at Barnt Green, to be increased to two trains an hour with all trains stopping at Barnt Green.

A BARRUP spokesperson said: “Such improvements would be of great benefit to the economic, environmental and social aspects of the district.

“I hope all our local county councillors, of whatever political persuasion, have read the draft document and have submitted their arguments for improving the District’s rail services.”

People can visit worcestershire.gov.uk/wris to read the Draft Worcestershire Rail Investment Strategy-2 and have their say.

The deadline for comments is midday next Friday, October 21.
