THE NEW 18 low-carbon affordable homes built on the former Bromsgrove District Council House site at Burcot Lane will be sold to housing provider BDHT.

Bromsgrove District Housing Trust was deemed the best fit for the properties after the selection process by Savills UK.

The buildings include 12 social rent and six shared ownership homes which will include warmth and energy from air source heat pumps and solar panels with battery storage.

In total, 61 properties are being built on the site and they are due to be handed over early next year.

The council’s portfolio holder for strategic housing, Coun Shirley Webb, said: “BDHT’s expertise and experience will be invaluable as we work together to deliver these quality homes to residents which will also give them lower energy bills and smaller carbon footprints, thanks to their higher energy efficiency standards.”

BDHT chief executive Graeme Anderson added: “As the cost of living continues to increase, the need for genuinely affordable homes like these is more important than ever, and they’re ideally located for access to the town centre and shops too.”
