BROMSGROVE showed its support for the armed forces yesterday morning with their ‘Fly the Flag’ service.
The ceremony started at 10am at Crown Green near the war memorial and it particularly acknowledged the armed forces response to the coronavirus pandemic.
The flag will now be flown in the run up to this Saturday’s Armed Forces Day.
The ceremony was organised by Bromsgrove District Council Chairman Rod Laight.
Coun Laight said: “By Flying the Flag in our community, we are showing our support for the men and women of our Armed Forces, past and present, who continue to rise to the very difficult challenge of maintaining the defence of the realm.
“This year, our sailors, marines, soldiers, airmen and airwomen have been busy supporting the response to the Coronavirus pandemic and have continued to deploy on operations at home and abroad.”
The Bromsgrove Royal British Legion also paid tribute to the armed forces, including those currently serving, veterans and cadets and their families and friends.
They also encouraged armed forces members to talk to about their experiences, saying they “don’t have to carry their burden alone.”
