Bromsgrove Town Crier wins prestigious Bromyard title after 20 years of trying

THERE was plenty to cry about for Bromsgrove’s Kevin Ward when he was victorious in the prestigious Bromyard Town Crier Competition – a title he had been trying to win for more than 20 years.

Kevin fought off competition from 10 others from across the UK – some as far afield as Bognor Regis and Cornwall.

For his first cry, he championed his home town and in particular the upcoming Bromsgrove Festival – an event he has also organised a concert for.

And for his second he shouted about Hereford and the surrounding areas.

Kevin has won previous contests in the past but this one has always alluded him up until now.

He told the Standard: “This has been won by previous national, European and World Champion Town Criers so I was extremely pleased to finally get my hands on the trophy.”
