ALVECHURCH FC were beaten 3-0 by Stourbridge as Jason Cowley’s hat-trick saw the home side miss the chance to reach the final of the Birmingham Senior Cup.
Former Bromsgrove Sporting man Cowley struck twice in as many minutes in the first half before completing his treble early in the second period to condemn Alvechurch to defeat at Lye Meadow.
Church are three-time finalists of the competition, last reaching the showpiece in 2009/10 when they were beaten 2-1 by Nuneaton Town.
The club were also beaten in consecutive finals by Bedworth Town from 1980 to 1982.
Alvechurch are next in action away at Needham Market on Saturday, March 19 with kick-off at 3pm at Bloomfields.
