Two Bromsgrove car parks to close for a week each for resurfacing

Bromsgrove Editorial 18th Feb, 2022   0

DRIVERS are being warned two Bromsgrove town centre car parks will be closed for a week each next month for essential maintenance.

Parkside will be shut from March 7 and New Road from March 14. They will be closed day and night while the resurfacing takes place.

The old surfacing will be planed off before new surfacing is installed.

Motorists will need to remove all cars prior to the work beginning to avoid potential access issues or delays.

Some spaces will be barriered off at Parkside for wall repairs from February 28 and the New Road one from March 7 to install new railings.

Bromsgrove District Council leader, Coun Karen May, apologised for the inconvenience caused, adding the week-long closures was not ideal and the team had worked hard to keep disruption to a minimum, such as introducing staggered start dates to avoid parking issues on that side of town.

“Due to the residential properties nearby, night working is not an option and of course brings its own safety issues.

“The full closure will allow our contractors to complete the work as quickly as possible and the work will mean safer, better car parks for visitors and residents in the town.”
