Bosses at Rubery's Deelands Community Hall thanks firm for free vibrant revamp

A COMMUNITY in the heart of Rubery has praised a company for their generosity in giving its base an extensive revamp inside and out.

Deelands Hall, Deelands Road, plays a key role for local residents who rely on it for support, activities and meeting others.

Trident Reach took over the centre eight years ago, from Birmingham City Council, as part of an asset transfer and is committed to doing what it can to support the vital community asset.

Nick Hendy, Director of TNR Midlands LTD, visited Deelands Hall a month ago to give a quote for redecoration.

When Nick heard of the work done at Deelands Hall, he offered to take on the whole makeover free of charge, covering the £3,000 cost.

Residents Tina Osbourn, Frank Campbell and Precious Campbell were even given the chance to choose the colours.

Bernie McFall said: “As soon as we saw it we thought ‘wow’ – we could not believe the transformation – the building looks absolutely amazing.

“We can’t thank Nick and TNR enough for what they have done.

“We do so much for people in the area and now our building is a fitting place for all the get-togethers, activities and support events to take place.”

Deelands Hall reopened its doors on Monday with its new vibrant look and new activities for its users to enjoy.

Among them are an over 50s Luncheon club every Wednesday, Job Club for those 25 and over and boxing on a Friday evening for the young people on the estate to reduce anti-social behaviour.
