THERE is no link between the asylum seekers staying at Bromsgrove Hotel and the violent assault which occurred outside Kumu nightclub, police say.
Chief inspector for North Worcestershire, Ed Hancox, denounced the false accusations which spread on social media after two men were arrested over the attack.
A 23-year-old man from Worcester and a 18-year-old man from Bromsgrove were being held over the incident which happened at around 2.35am outside the club on Worcester Road.
Inspector Hancox said: “Neither of these men are residents of the Bromsgrove Hotel and neither are they in this country for asylum.
“The language, inference and outright racism of some people’s comments regarding this incident are wholly inappropriate and potentially criminal.
“I would like to remind anyone making such comments that they will be reviewed and investigated as hate crimes and we will take necessary action.”
Inspector Hancox added he will not tolerate racism and such comments could be a criminal offence.
