A LIFE-SAVING defibrillator has been installed on the wall of Rubery Social Club thanks to funding from a councillor.
Coun Peter McDonald, who used some of his Worcestershire County Council divisional fund, said: “The club plays a proactive role in the local community and without any hesitation offered its help and co-operation to have the defibrillator installed. I’m truly grateful.”
Defibrillation is a treatment for life-threatening cardiac dysrhythmias, it provides an electric ‘counter-shock’ to the heart so it can re-establish its normal sinus rhythm.
Because it is on the outside of the building, it will always be available.
Coun McDonald added: “At long last there is now a defibrillator within reach of anyone in the high street who may be in need.”
