STAFF at Bromsgrove District Housing Trust (BDHT) will swap one day on the job to support local community projects and charities this year.
More than 130 employees will sacrifice eight hours of work time as part of the new ‘1,000 Hours Charity’ campaign.
Samantha Powell, HR officer at BDHT, said: “As a not-for-profit organisation, everything we do is about best serving our residents.
“The 1,000 Hours campaign is designed to empower our staff to make time to make a difference in their community.
“We’ve been overwhelmed by their enthusiasm to take part.”
Eight staff members kicked off the campaign last week by visiting Bromsgrove’s Primrose Hospice.
BDHT’s accountants, plumbers and customer service professionals worked together, rolled up their sleeves and spent the day digging, weeding and prunning the hospice’s much-loved outdoor sanctuary.
Jo Wright, Volunteers’ Manager at Primrose Hospice, said: “We are so grateful to the team of green-fingered volunteers.
“It was an extremely hot day but the team weren’t deterred and worked tirelessly to give our outdoor space a makeover.
“We are absolutely delighted with the results.”
The gardening project is just the start as staff will also gift their time throughout 2019 to support a wide variety of local charitable causes including youth groups, renovation projects and community fun days.
