A CAR BUSINESS has been recognised for its hard work and dedication following a year of fund-raising for Primrose Hospice in Bromsgrove.
David Manners, based in Birmingham, scooped up the ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ prize at the ‘Midlands Family Business Awards’ in Leicester late last year.
The black-tie event is held annually and celebrates local family businesses which benefit the Midlands.
David Manners, which supplies classic and modern car parts, restored a Morris Minor recently, only to raffle it off and give all the proceeds to the Primrose Hospice.
The firm also introduced its ‘Family Fund’ pot – used by staff members in the business to donate to worthy causes.
Bromsgrove-based Bumble Hole Foods was also recognised in the Corporate Social Responsibility category but just missed out on top prize.
Charlotte Perkins, managing director of the Wilson Organisation, which runs the awards, said: “Our panel of judges and each of our sponsors have been blown away by the calibre of this year’s finalists.
“The talent, ambition and entrepreneurial spirit of our winners highlights the significant role that family businesses play in keeping the Midlands’ economy thriving.”
