DRIVERS in Cofton Hackett and the surrounding areas have been warned to be on their guard after a number of thefts from vehicles in the area.

West Mercia Police have stepped up patrols in the area but officers say ‘prevention is better than cure’.

Motorists should lock and fully secure their cars, including shutting all windows.

Valuable items should also remove everything of value from the vehicle, including from the boot and glove compartment.

PC Ginder from Rubery SNT said: “It would appear the offender is opportunistic and simply trying car doors until he finds one unlocked.

“Share this message with friends, neighbours and social media.”

In the latest incident a van parked in Middle Drive, Rednal, was entered by thieves who stole a sat nav and work equipment.

It happened overnight between Sunday and Monday.

Witnesses or anyone with any information on the incident should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111,
