TRAIN users are being urged to check before they travel over the Christmas and New Year period.
West Midlands Railway has announced track upgrade work and different travel patterns means there will be changes to timetables from December 24 until January 2.
There will be re-signalling works at Birmingham New Street during that time to upgrade signals at Birmingham New Street.
On Christmas Eve a Sunday service will run on most routes, but services will finish earlier than usual and there will be no services on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
Between December 27 and 30, trains between Lichfield and Redditch (which stop at such stations as Kings Norton, Northfield, Barnt Green and Alvechurch) will run every 20 minutes.
Between December 31 and January 1, trains between these stations will run every 30 minutes.
Passengers returning to work on January 2 are reminded that services are expected to be very busy on this day, with trains will running every 20 minutes before a normal service resumes on January 3.
Bromsgrove and Droitwich won’t be hugely altered.
Richard Brooks, Customer Services director at West Midlands Railway, said: “Services are always busier over the Christmas and New Year period and we don’t want any of our passengers to be left behind.
“The advice is to leave plenty of time to make your journeys and check before you travel in case your route is affected by any planned improvement works.
“This is especially important for passengers travelling through the West Midlands the day after the New Year Bank Holiday.”
