PUPILS from a Chaddesley Corbett put ‘Christmas in a Box’ to help those less fortunate at this time of year.

Through the worldwide project Operation Christmas Child, children at Winterfold House School filled shoeboxes with a variety of items ready to give to a needy child.

Deputy head, David Aldred, said: “It is always a very moving experience when we think about Operation Christmas Child.

“We contemplate how fortunate we are and picture the smiles on children’s faces and their joy at opening a shoe box filled with gifts.”

Operation Christmas Child is run by the Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief and development organisation.

Since 1990, the charity has sent shoeboxes to more than 124million children in 150 countries worldwide.

The boxes are filled with toys, stationery and educational items and sent to underprivileged children to use.
