Windsor Street, Bromsgrove regeneration given green light

BROMSGROVE District Council’s Cabinet has agreed the next phase of development for the regeneration of Windsor Street.

The decision now paves the way for the brownfield town centre site to become the location of up to 50 new homes with a strong focus on creating affordable housing, subject to the preparation and approval of outline planning application.

The site is currently undergoing the second phase of remediation works, supported by external funding, to make the land safe and ready for future development.

Cabinet Member for Planning and Strategic Housing, Coun Sue Baxter, said: “I am delighted to see this important site move forward to the next stage of development.

“It is a significant step towards bringing underused land back into productive use and creating a place that will benefit residents for years to come.

“Our remediation works on the site to date are laying the foundations for a quality housing development which will continue us on our journey to make Bromsgrove an enjoyable place to be.”

The work completed so far is helping to prepare the site for redevelopment and supports the council’s wider regeneration plans for the area.

Bringing brownfield land back into use will help meet local housing needs while reducing pressure to develop on the green belt.

The next step for Windsor Street includes seeking outline planning permission.
