A royal day out for Bromsgrove council chairman

THE Mayor of Redditch, councillor Joanna Kane, was joined by Bromsgrove District Council chairman Sam Evans at the first Buckingham Palace garden party of the season.

Around 8,000 guests donned their finery as they gathered to enjoy the party.

The King, Queen, Princess Anne and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh were in attendance.

Coun Kane said she spoke to Queen Camilla about the town.

“We told her that Redditch has lots of wonderful people doing fantastic work in the community and that being mayor had given me a great insight into this.

“She was very friendly and complimented my son on his kilt.

“It was also lovely to catch up with Coun Evans and to have a look around the beautiful garden.”

Coun Evans said: “It was both an honour and a privilege to attend the royal garden party and to meet members of the royal family, including The King.

“I was also very humbled to wear the Bromsgrove District Cou-ncil chain of office, to represent the town at this national event.”
