BROMSGROVE RFC saw their three-game winning run come to an end following a 39-22 defeat away at Newent.
Tries from Jamie Constantine, Michael Allbutt and Rhys Williams proved in vain for the Boars as the home side retained their two-year unbeaten run at Watery Lane.
The result means Bromsgrove sit fifth in the Regional 1 Midlands table.
Newent raced into a commanding 19-point lead before Constantine crossed for Bromsgrove’s first try.
The home side took a 12-point lead into the break before Williams kicked a penalty to further reduce the deficit.
However, the penalty sparked Newent back into life as the hosts scored two further tries to take the game out of Bromsgrove’s reach.
The Boars responded with tries from Allbutt and Williams which closed the gap between the teams to nine points.
However, Newent kicked a late penalty and scored another try with the final play of the game as the visitors came away from the fixture empty-handed.
Bromsgrove are next in action against Dudley Kingswinford on Saturday, March 7 with kick-off at 3pm at Finstall Park.
