CAREERS Worcestershire has launched their ‘Let’s Move’ week to support job outcomes for young people, writes Toby Almond.
Let’s Move! Week aims to help people aged 16 to 24 to build a positive outlook by focusing on physical and mental wellbeing, recognising their importance when making decisions about jobs or education.
It is designed to support young adults to develop positive routines which boost confidence, motivation and resilience – helping them feel more prepared about their careers.
The event takes place from January 19 to 23 at Careers Worcestershire hubs across the county, such as at The Hive in Worcester and HoW College in Redditch.
Jennie Ellis, careers and employment team manager at Careers Worcestershire, said: “Having a positive outlook is crucial when you’re job searching or deciding on your next career, education or training move.
“That positivity often comes from taking care of both your physical and mental wellbeing.
“Let’s Move! Week is about helping young people build confidence and motivation through simple, achievable activities, so they feel more resilient, focused and positive about their next steps.”
The activities include a motivational session, wellbeing-focused workshops and physical activities such as a ‘Mile a Day’ challenge, guided wellbeing walk and chair-based yoga.
Coun Alan Amos, Worcestershire County Council’s cabinet member for business and skills, said: “Let’s Move! Week is an opportunity for young people to take responsibility for their wellbeing.
“Confidence and positive habits don’t happen by chance, they are built through motivation and support.
“I would strongly encourage young people aged 16 to 24 to take part in the sessions on offer and make the most of the support provided by Careers Worcestershire.”
