OVER 200 affordable homes are set to be developed in Bromsgrove thanks to a deal between a developer and a housing association at the town’s Perryfields development.
Housing association Bromford has completed a deal with Taylor Wimpey to create more than 200 affordable properties.
Bromford has completed the purchase of a 6.7 acre parcel of land at the homebuilder’s Perryfields development, where it will build 104 rental and shared ownership homes.
The new homes, a mixture of two, three, and four-bedroom houses, apartments and bungalows, will be built by Bromford’s in-house construction team, with work due to start in 2026.
At the same time Bromford has agreed to acquire a further 106 homes on an adjacent phase of the development. These homes will be built by Taylor Wimpey and handed over in stages between 2026 and 2028.
According to Government figures, average house prices in Bromsgrove are £333,000 with monthly rents approaching £1,000.
Bromford’s head of land Lyndon Parkes said: “There’s a clear need for more affordable housing in the area. So we’re delighted to have agreed this double deal and look forward to working with them [Taylor Wimpey] on this important development.
“We believe by providing families with safe, secure, affordable homes there’s no limit to what they can achieve.”
Bromford is a strategic partner of Homes England and in 2021 received £240 million to help fund the development of new homes, including the homes it will be building at Perryfields.
The organisation is part of Bromford Flagship, an 82,000 housing association, with homes across England. Locally, the housing association secured a site with potential for over 100 homes in neighbouring Droitwich Spa.
It’s one of the biggest builders of affordable homes in the country, completing 1,770 homes in 2024/25, including 519 for social rent.
Helen Chard, land director at Taylor Wimpey North Midlands, said: “We’re proud to play a role in addressing the region’s housing needs by facilitating this important sale.
“This partnership marks a step forward in supporting accessible, high-quality housing development that benefits both the local community and future residents.”
