BROMSGROVE Sporting have signed Stratford Town defender Paul McCone who will join the Rouslers as player-assistant manager.
McCone made 127 appearances for the Bards over the last three seasons in the Southern League Premier Central and scored 12 goals.
The experienced 33-year-old defender has also featured for the likes of AFC Telford United, Stourbridge and Halesowen Town.
Stratford made McCone club captain ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.
He will assist Rouslers boss Scott Adey-Linforth alongside Karl Fellows who was first team coach at Sporting last season.
McCone said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be joining Bromsgrove Sporting, as assistant manager and player.
“It’s an honour to be part of such a great club, with a strong sense of community and a passionate fanbase.
“I’ve known Scott for many years, and I’m really looking forward to working with him to help continue building on the solid foundations he’s already laid.
“This feels like the natural next step for me, both personally and professionally, and my family are just as excited for this new adventure.
“They will be there every week, proudly cheering the team on.”
Adey-Linforth added: “I’m delighted to bring Paul to the club. He’s an exceptional leader and a top defender that will bring a wealth of experience to the club.
“Paul will be coming in as a player, but also as an assistant to help me going forward.
“As well as Paul, Karl will be stepping up to fill Darryl Knights’ shoes.
“Karl joined midway through last season – he is a top coach and is someone I trust.
“I have learnt a lot from him over the years and I’m looking forward to working with him more going forward.”
