SCOTT Adey-Linforth admits Bromsgrove Sporting had to weather the storm after rescuing a last gasp point in a 1-1 draw against Harborough Town.
An injury-time equaliser from Jack Newell earned the home side a point after Ben Stephens’ early penalty put Harborough ahead at the Victoria Ground.
The result means Sporting sit 14th in the Southern League Premier Central table, eight points clear of the relegation zone.
And Adey-Linforth stressed the importance of his side staying in games even when not at their best.
Adey-Linforth said: “We started really poorly, I thought they were outstanding, it was one of the best performances I’ve seen from a team down here.
“We rode our luck a little bit, we were well in control in the second half but we didn’t really threaten them.
“It got to the point where we felt like we weren’t going to score but we get once chance and we’ve taken it.
“We had to stay in it, Charlie [Price] made some big saves and the defence held strong.
“We’ve got to be better because we didn’t create enough chances, our quality in the final third was poor.
“We weathered the storm and stayed in the fight and got what we deserved, it’s important to stay in the game and take points from those positions.”
Sporting fell behind after just eight minutes when Stephens fired home from the penalty spot after debutant Byron Wilson brought down Jutorre Burgess in the box.
The Rouslers survived an early onslaught as Charlie Price made a number of saves to keep Harborough at bay.
Sporting improved after the break and snatched a point three minutes into injury time when Newell bundled the ball home at the death.
Bromsgrove travel to local rivals Redditch United on Saturday, March 29 with kick-off at 3pm at the Valley Stadium.
