NEW information sessions are being run by the Citizens Advice Service (CAS) across Bromsgrove district, thanks to funding from the district council.
As part of the new outreaches, the CAS team will be at Rubery Library from 10am to 1pm this Monday, March 3, and then on the first Monday of each month.
Another session is being held at The Pod in Charford from 12.30pm to 2pm this Wednesday, March 5, and then continuing weekly after that. And the CAS team, along with the Health Bus and other agencies, will be at Clent Village Hall from 9.30am to 12.30pm on the last Wednesday of every month.
No appointments are needed and anyone can drop in for support on a wide range of issues including housing, employment, debt, benefits, energy and immigration.
If the CAS team does not have an answer, it can refer people to an organisation which does.
Raj Loi, the service’s advice manager said: “As an independent charity, we already support over 5,000 households a year across the district, but these outreaches will help us reach people who struggle to use the phone or to get to our office.”
Chris Roberts, the chief executive of the Citizens Advice Service, said: “We are so grateful for this support from the council.
“There are so many people in need across the District and this will help people reach us far more easily.”
Appeal for volunteers
Raj added that alongside this work, CAS was looking for more people who may be interested in volunteering as advisers and was also currently looking for volunteer trustees to help guide the service through an exciting period of change.
The Citizens Advice Service is also looking for volunteers – visit: cabr.org.uk/volunteering for more.
