RESIDENTS in Bromsgrove whose bin days would have fallen on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, or New Years Day have revised collection days.
Collections that would have been on Wednesday December 25, will be done on Monday December 23 instead.
Thursday December 26 collections will move to Saturday December 28.
And for those on Wednesday Jan 1, the new bin day is Saturday Jan 4.
There are no other planned changes, with people across Bromsgrove advised to put bins out as normal for waste crews to collect on all other days.
Coun Sharon Harvey, Redditch Borough Council’s portfolio holder for environmental services, said: “If your bin day falls on a bank holiday this year please make a note of the revised collection dates, and why not tell your neighbour to help spread the word.
“Please be extra sure to put your bin out before 7am on the revised bin days. Our crews are more likely than normal to need to change routes on those days and come to at a different time than you might be used to.
“And remember, if we have bad weather that disrupts bin collections, the advice is to continue to leave your bins out for 7am, because we will usually plan to get to your bin as soon as we can.”
Coun Peter Whittaker, Bromsgrove District Council’s portfolio holder for environmental services, said: “For everyone whose bin day falls on a festive bank holiday this year there are revised collection dates, so please be aware of this.
“We’re also saying to please be extra sure to put your bin out before 7am on the changed days. This is the standard advice of course, but our crews are more likely than normal to need to change routes on the changed days, and come to you at a different time than you might be used to.
“Finally, if bad weather causes disruption to the bin collections at any time, the blanket advice remains to continue to leave your bin out for 7am the next day because the plan in those situations will usually be to get back and empty it as soon as possible.
“We’re getting this message out early and encouraging everyone to tell your neighbour as well, to help spread the word. Let’s look after each other, especially where we have neighbours that might need that little bit of support especially during winter.”
