FOUR HERITAGE diesel locomotives passed through Bromsgrove on Tuesday while being transferred between preserved railways, writes Neil Gordon.
The four engines were heading to the West Somerset Railway at Bishops Lydeard, Somerset, from the Severn Valley Railway, Kidderminster, following a gala.
The convoy comprised class 20 locomotives numbers 20189 and 20142 named Sir John Betjemin, class 50 number 50033 named Glorious, and class 46 number 46045 sporting its original D182 number.
The four locomotives are set to appear at the West Somerset Railway’s Summer Diesel Festival this week along with other preserved locomotives.
Each of the three different classes of locomotives worked through Bromsgrove during their British Rail days with class 20s operating freight trains and classes 50 and 46 hauling passenger services.
