The increase in fibre broadband has brought about a huge amount of change for the area, with nearby Bentley Pauncefoot experiencing some of the worst speeds in the country. A single fibre optic connection is capable of delivering speeds that are up to 23% faster than the average broadband connection. The majority of people in Bromsgrove can now take advantage of copper connections, meaning that speeds of up to 1 Gigabit per second can be provided to both homes and businesses in the area.

Fibre is Significantly Faster and More Reliable

As most residents now have access to faster broadband, this has helped to provide several benefits. Those who like to play Spin Till You Win, along with other online casino games, can rejoice in the fact that they now have a more stable and reliable internet connection with much faster speeds. With games like this having 3D elements, high-definition graphics and cutting-edge technology, fibre helps to provide a more seamless playing experience.

Residents can also access a much wider variety of games online, including live options such as Spread-Bet Roulette. It’s not just gaming that fibre in the area is benefitting either, as people can now stream their favourite Netflix shows in 4K without experiencing lag or long loading times. As fibre rolls out in the area, more and more people will have the option to upgrade, which will have a huge impact on local businesses, as well as the entertainment sector.

Bromsgrove’s Coverage Compared to Other Areas

Gigabit-capable broadband has speeds of at least 1 gigabit-per-second. This means a HD movie can be downloaded in less than a minute. New technology networks are being built by using full-fibre, with the cable network owned by Virgin Media O2. When it comes to hard-to-reach areas, this is the most economically viable option of providing broadband. With 80% of UK premises having access to gigabit broadband, Bromsgrove stands below the national average at 75.1%.

With that in mind, the government aims for 99% coverage by the year 2030, and as fibre is continually rolled out, more areas of Bromsgrove will be able to take advantage of faster internet connections. The fastest speed that people can get in Bromsgrove stands at 77 Mbps, with the national average in the UK being 73.21 Mbps. Although Bromsgrove lags in terms of coverage, it is currently experiencing higher-than-average speeds, which is a great indicator that residents can take full advantage of new fibre connections in the area.

With the internet rollout continuing, more is being done to bridge the digital divide too. Residents are now able to take advantage of internet skills classes, as a result of the digital inclusion classes offered by Birmingham City Council. Free classes are being offered to those who are over the age of 65 in an attempt to get the older generation up to speed on using the internet while ensuring that nobody is left behind as the country advances into a new age.
