CALLUM King-Harmes’ early goal proved in vain as Bromsgrove Sporting surrendered a half-time lead in a 2-1 defeat at title chasing Needham Market.

King-Harmes opened the scoring after 16 minutes only for a quickfire double in the second half to condemn the Rouslers to defeat at Bloomfields.

The result means Sporting sit 14th in the Southern League Premier Central table, four points above the relegation zone.

After a drab opening 15 minutes, King-Harmes broke the deadlock with a delicate chip over Needham goalkeeper Marcus Garnham after collecting a loose pass and driving into the box.

Soon after, Conor Tee sent a shot straight at Garnham from the edge of the penalty area while Ollie Taylor made a superb one-handed save at the other end to keep the Rouslers in front.

And Taylor made another excellent stop at the start of the second period to deny Luke Ingram as Kevin Horlock’s Needham side began to take control of the contest.

However, the home side eventually drew level on 65 minutes when Jake Dye’s bullet header from Jacob Lay’s cross left Taylor with no chance.

And Needham completed the turnaround just two minutes later as Seth Carroll-Chambers tapped in from close range after Ingram’s initial effort came back off the woodwork.

Chances were at a premium thereafter as Miro Pais fired over the bar for Sporting while Carroll-Chambers hit the side netting when well-placed at the other end.

Bromsgrove are next in action at home to Berkhamsted on Saturday, December 2 with kick-off at 3pm at the Victoria Ground.
