BREAKING - Consortium set to takeover Bromsgrove Sporting as chairman steps down

Bromsgrove Editorial 17th Aug, 2023   0

A THREE-MAN consortium is set to takeover Bromsgrove Sporting with chairman Mike Burke to step down from his role.

Burke’s resignation will allow the consortium of Brian Seymour-Smith, Paul Molesworth and Craig Cotterill to takeover and run the club.

Under the consortium’s proposal, Seymour-Smith will be chairman designate, Molesworth director of football and Cotterill commercial director with Graham Scott to stay on as vice-chairman.

A statement from Burke reads: “The club has been approached by a consortium wishing to come on board and run the club.

“They have also stated that they have the means to bring in major sponsorship funding (on a commission basis) to take the club forward.

“The current board has met with them on several occasions, and gone through their proposals in detail.

“Obviously there is a lot more to their business proposal and it will be available for shareholders at the appropriate time.

“I have agreed to step down as chairman and Graham [Scott] has already stepped down as director of football to leave the positions clear.

“I will step down after the Stourbridge bank holiday match on the 28th of August, allowing for a hand-over period.

“The board have, by a majority vote, invited Brian, Paul and Craig on to the board of directors.”

The move brings an end to Burke’s near seven-year reign as chairman following his appointment to the role in October 2016.
