SEVEN fire crews remain in Rashwood this evening after a sever property fire off the A38.

And drivers are still being advised to avoid the area because of heavy traffic caused by the incident.

We reported earlier how two crews from Worcester initially attended the fire around 11.30am.

But, because of the severity of the blaze, six more Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue crews were called in – from Bromsgrove, Droitwich, Redditch, Malvern, Pershore and Evesham. Another crew – a West Midlands Fire Service one from Northfield has also been needed.

Around 80 per cent of the two-storey 10m by 40m building was engulfed by flames.

Crews used two main jets and hose reels to extinguish the blaze.

The fire has now been brought under control and relief crews have stepped in to take over.

The Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue teams are from Redditch, Leominster, Kingsland, Upton, Hereford, Tenbury and Worcester.

All people and numerous animals have been rescued by fire crews and the police are also on the scene.

Those living nearby have been urged to keep their doors and windows closed because of the extent of the smoke.

And drivers are urged to avoid the area and find alternative routes.
