BROMSGROVE Hockey Club opened the new season in style as two of their ladies teams picked up morale-boosting victories.
The most impressive performance came from the Ladies’ Fourths as they thumped Worcester Ladies Fifths 4-1.
With several players new to the team, Bromsgrove began cautiously, but once Dee Martin netted they looked more comfortable.
Rachel Colclough made it 2-0 by firing in a shot from almost the right baseline and then she added another from a penalty corner after the break.
Worcester pulled one back, but Charlotte Hale completed the scoring rolling out to avoid the defender before slotting the ball into the goal.
Bromsgrove Ladies Firsts also got off to a winning start as they edged Redditch Ladies Firsts 1-0, with Harriet Finney grabbing the only goal of the game.
However, there was disappointment for Bromsgrove Ladies Seconds as Hampton Ladies Seconds returned home with a 2-1 victory.
The hosts gave a good account of themselves, with Lorraine Aspland putting her side in front, but Hampton hit back and in the last minute they struck to secure the win.
