Wet weather fails to deter victorious Beach

WARREN Beach mastered miserable conditions to claim victory in the Saturday Open at Alvechurch Fisheries.

A total of 18 anglers endured the wet and windy weather and it was Beach who managed it the best as he finished with a stunning catch of 118lbs 6oz.

It was also the best weight to date on the Horseshoe Lake as Beach (peg 34) put together a ton of carp up to eight points after he fished 17 metres of pole and 4 ml banded pellet up to the island over constant 4 ml feed.

This stole the show from his younger brother, Darren Beach, who was his nearest challenger. From peg 11, he fished long pole and corn up to the island over a number of lines to also net quality carp and stockies to weigh 74lbs 2oz.

Jay Davies (peg 1) had to settle for third spot after rotating a number of swims – fishing long pole to the aerator with pellet and down the road side edge forĀ  a bag of carp, barbel and silvers for 68lbs 13oz.

Meanwhile, youngster Jay Parr had a day to remember as he fished his favourite tactics – tip and bomb with banded pellet off peg 34 out in front to net carp up to 6lbs and stockies to record his best weight and finish to date.

His catch of 60lbs 6oz was enough to seal him a place in the top four ahead of Les Ayres who fished 14 metres pole and pellet on to the shelf and late down the margins for a mixed bag 51lbs 14oz from peg 24.

Elsewhere, Ron Taylor (peg 28) opted for tip and pellet feeder tactics up to the island throughout for 44lbs 4oz.
