IT WAS two Saturday Open wins on the trot for Les Ayres as he finished top of the pile at Alvechurch Fisheries last weekend.
Ayres (peg 12) adopted two tactics on the long pole and banded pellet up to the reeds and down the shelf out in front to net chunky stockies up to 3lbs and a mixed bag of silvers to weigh 78lbs 4oz.
His nearest challenge was Alan Higgs (peg 1) who alternated long pole and banded pellet up to the island and late down the margin for his mixed bag of stockies and silvers 67oz 13lbs.
Warren Beach (peg 17) clinched third spot after fishing long pole and pellet over a number of swims to weigh 60lbs 7oz.
This was just 2lb 4oz more than what Paul Gartshore (peg 20) weighed in with as he fished long pole tactics and pellet down the centre track.
Elsewhere, Tony Musticone (peg 26) fished similar tactics throughout for a mixed bag 50lbs 3oz, while newcomer Mike Wakeman (peg 3) fished out in front and down the shelf for his mixed bag of 42lbs 14oz.
