Tough test for Bromsgrove men

IT WAS a testing time for a Bromsgrove’s men’s team last weekend as they found themselves with a number of key players unavailable.

But the A Team managed to survive as they saw off Redditch HDA to remain unbeaten in Division One.

Youngsters Ollie Stratford and Steve Jones were called up from the B Team and they played a big role in steering to victory as the first round of singles proved conclusive.

Adam Dudek fought a long hard thee set battle against the Redditch number one, but they emerged victorious to give Bromsgrove a 3-1 lead going into the doubles. With the doubles shared, Bromsgrove ran out 4-2 winners.

The B Team were also depleted as they travelled to Droitwich for a Division Three clash against a strong squad and were never really in it.

The only bright side was that it gave some players their first taste of the Aegon format of playing both singles and doubles in a match.
