Struggling Villa thumped by Rangers

FAIRFIELD Villa’s season seems to be going from bad to worse as they were thumped by newly-promoted Austrey Rangers at the Recreation Ground.

After going a goal down, Rob Walker levelled matters for the Bromsgrove side, but last season’s Midland Football League Division Three champions added three more to secure an emphatic victory.

The visitors’ first came within the opening ten minute as a poor punch from Ryan Taylor found an unmarked player who had a free shot to open the scoring.

Although Fairfield were still in the match at half-time as they trailed 1-0, they failed to create many chances due to sloppy passing.

But the opportunity they did carve out after the interval they took as Walker fired home. But that was as good as it got for Fairfield as Austrey struck three times.

Villa were then reduced to ten men following a straight red card as they suffered a third successive defeat to leave them at the foot of the table.
