BROMSGROVE Sporting boss Paul Smith states his squad must push on and focus on getting results even though his side picked up the Midland League Division One Team of the Month combined award for December and January.

The Rouslers picked up six consecutive league wins across the two months, a run of form which has seen them keep up the pace with Division One leaders Coventry United.

Despite picking up the accolade, Smith maintains his players must put it behind them and keep striving for success.

“The team that wins the award for one month does not win the league,” he said.

“I’m proud of the players for picking up the award and I don’t want to take any credit away from them as I just point them in the right direction.

“However, we need to push on and do the same in February and for the rest of months leading up to the end of the season.”

After last weekend’s home game against Lichfield City was postponed – which has now been rearranged for Tuesday, February 16 – the Rouslers welcome fifth place Nuneaton Griff to the Victoria Ground this Saturday (February 13) for their first meeting of the season.

Griff are the joint-highest scorers in the league so far (68) and managed to reach the last-16 of the FA Vase before getting knocked out by Salisbury FC.

And for Smith, the game poses to be a real challenge.

“I’ve been to watch them twice and they are the best footballing side I’ve seen in the division,” he said.

“You only have to look at how far they got in the FA Vase to see the quality they possess but I need to get it into the players’ heads they are a very good side.

“Another performance like the one against Littleton in the county cup will not be tolerated.”
