RECORDS continue to get broken at Alvechurch Fisheries as Steve Bellion scored the best weight seen on the New Canal Lake.

Bellion (peg 16) won with 135lbs 8oz to cap off a superb Saturday Open, which saw three tons filling the first three places.

He fished long pole and 6ml banded pellet across to the reeds to net pristine stockies up to 3lbs, and ide and barbel to take the honours.

It also denied Trevor Hodges (peg 3) victory after he landed an impressive 130lbs 2oz, which would have been the best weight to date. He produced similar tactics across to the far shelf and late down the margin for a mixed bag of carp and silvers.

Les Ayres also got into three figures as he finished with 101lbs after fishing long pole up to the reeds with banded pellet to record his first ton.

Meanwhile, Rob Hodgson added his personal best catch on peg 13 with 6ml banded pellet out in front and long down the margins for a mixed bag 94lbs 6oz.

This put him well clear in fourth as Sammy Round (peg 11) weighed in with 60lbs 15oz after fishing long pole and pellet out in front to return a mixed net.

Manager Mark Olds was delighted with the excellent condition and growth of the new stock fish and weights being returned.
