Plenty of good results for Bromsgrove & District League sides in county cups

THERE was plenty of good results in the Worcestershire FA county cups for Bromsgrove & District League representatives over the weekend.

Northfield Athletic were the biggest winners as they booked their place in the second round of the Premier Cup with a 10-1 victory over Redditch Town

Jason Cowley (3), Josh Moore (2), Reiss Brians (2), Jon Myrie, Aaron Westwood and Jake Thomas got on the scoresheet.

Goals from Al Emery and Will Tibbetts guided Belbroughton Athletic to a 2-1 win at Riverside while Millfield Rovers edged past Northside 3-2 thanks to David Cummings’ brace and strike from James Ward.




Meadow Park booked their place in round two with a 2-1 victory over Harriers Trust courtesy of strikes from Liam Molesworth and Nic O’Connell while Black Horse beat CBH Fasteners 3-1.

However Thomas Brothers and Bartley Green Illey Sunday crashed out of the first round after losing to 3-2 and 4-3 respectively to Grange Athletic and Nameste Tigers.


In the Junior Cup, Studley Lions racked up the biggest scoreline as they defeated Bewdley Arches 9-2 thanks to four goals from Marc Jovanovic, two from Nick Briggs and one apiece for Jamie Walsh, Stewart Rowland and Steven Dipple.

Sporting Rednal almost emulated that scoreline as they beat CSKA Worcester 8-2 courtesy of hat-tricks from Dan Wilkes and Ellis Blakemore.

Chaddesley Corbett booked their place in the next round with a 4-3 penalty shoot-out victory over Droitwich Spa Eagles after drawing 3-3 after 90 minutes.

Dan Weston (2) and Matt Perry got on the scoresheet for Corbett.

Quinton Athletic bowed out at the first stage with a 7-2 defeat to Waggon and Horses while FC Hop Pole lost 5-0 to Sporting Worcester.

Oak Tree Sporting were also knocked out after losing 6-2 to Virgin Athletic but there was joy for FC Highgate United who won by a similar scoreline of Hallow Village.

Laurence Martin netted a hat-trick with Oliver Pugh, Connor Wilson and Jamie Ashmore completing their scoring.

Meanwhile, Red Lion enjoyed a 6-0 victory over Queens Head thanks to an own-goal and goals from Dan Bearcroft (3), Pete Jenvey and Jarrell Hepburn.

Chaddesley Corbett Reserves are safely through to the next round of the Minor Cup following their 6-2 win at Bredon.

Gaz Moriaty and Craig Sabel bagged braces while Matthew Neale and Anthony Neale also netted.

Bromsgrove Academicals overcame Powick 4-3 on penalties after drawing 2-2 while Meadow Park Youth secured a 4-1 victory over Millfield Rovers Reserves.

Sam McGeown netted for Rovers.

Stoke Works picked up a 4-0 win at TDMS thanks to goals from Ryan Cooper (2), James Chaffe and Ben Johnson.

Cofton Old Boys are also through after their 3-1 victory at Avon Titans while FC Bromsgrove beat Brewers Arms 5-4 on penalties following their 2-2 draw after 90 minutes.

Callum Lammas and Damien Blakeway netted for Bromsgrove.

Elsewhere, Stoke Prior were defeated 1-0 by Tenbury Athletic.
