PAUL SMITH continues to bolster his Bromsgrove Sporting squad ahead of the 2016/17 Midland League Division One season after agreeing terms with pacey winger Dayle Kenny.

The former Birmingham City, Alvechurch and Stourbridge man will make the move across from the now defunct Pilkington XXX to Sporting on July 1.

Kenny, who made 36 appearances for the Pilks last season, had reportedly agreed terms to make a move back his former club Alvechurch but the forward has instead pledged his allegiance to Sporting, becoming Smith’s fifth signing of pre-season.

Sporting fans will remember Kenny well as he helped the Pilks to a 2-1 victory over the Rouslers at the Victoria Ground in the final of the Smedley Crooke Memorial Charity Cup.

Kenny earned his side a penalty and also rattled the crossbar after dancing past several defenders before rifling a shot against the woodwork from inside the area.

Providing circumstances don’t change, Kenny will join up with former Redditch United midfielder Robbie Bunn, Lichfield City top scorer Tony Clarke, City’s young defender Joe Haines and Chelmsley Town’s top goalscorer Chris Lloyd.

The deal for Bunn comes after Sporting’s midfield maestro Liam Spink announced he would be making a return to Southern Premier League outfit Redditch.

Sporting star Reece Hewitt is also making a move across to the Reds with Lloyd and Kenny seen as direct replacements for the winger.

Lloyd, who used to play under Smith during his time at Alvechurch, helped Chelmsley secure promotion from Midland League Division Two with 51 goals in 42 appearances.

Clarke finished as second top scorer in Division One with 38 goals in 42 appearances for Lichfield while 19-year-old left back Haines has been captured after Smith fought off stiff competition from Premier Division sides Walsall Wood and Stourport Swifts.
