BARNT Green’s Mixed B Team are on the brink of promotion after losing just three games in a 4-0 victory over Droitwich B.
Beth Harris and Chris Linsell dominated both matches with powerful hitting from both wings while Dave Grinnell and Victoria Clipsham hypnotised their opponents with some deft touches from all areas of the court.
There was also success for the Men’s A Team on Sunday morning as their winning draw against Wall Heath A was their first positive result of the season.
It did require both captains to reach for their calculators to determine the outcome, though, as Green won by a single game.
The welcome six points gives them distant hopes of staying in the division alive, but with fixtures running out the upturn in form may prove to be too little too late.
However hope returned in the afternoon as the Ladies A Team boosted their chances of an immediate return to Division Two with a fine 6-0 victory away to Halesowen A.
Harris and Rachel Scott powered to two emphatic victories while Jane Hampson and Pauline Doolan were once again too strong for the opposition.
Regular Victoria Clipsham and Faye Edwards complimented each other well, and with three fixtures remaining promotion seems to be very much within sight.
