Meadow Park seeking fresh talent

NEWLY-promoted Meadow Park u14s are looking to strengthen their side as they aim hold their own in the Central Warwickshire Youth Football League Premier Division.

The Bromsgrove side won the Worcestershire FA County Youth Development League and cup on a Saturday as well as coming second and gaining promotion on the Sunday.

Manager Phil Green described it as an ‘outstanding’ campaign as they won the u13s league by ten points, with Terrel Jeffers top scoring with 22.

But attention has now turned to next season and Green admitted he needed a further four players to help keep his side afloat in the top flight.

“We have gelled really well and become a fantastic little team unit,” he said. “But next year will be a massive challenge as we will be playing against the elite of the area.

“We played a lot of games with players missing on a Sunday, which cost us, and we are going to loss a couple on Saturday next season.

“When we had a few bad results last year it was when we were down to the bare bones due to school holidays and a couple of illnesses and injuries.

“So we need three maybe four players to come in to be able to cover for the boys who are leaving or going on to better things on a Saturday and then just to build the strength of the side on a Sunday.”

Green said he was expecting his unbeaten side to be targeted in the Premier Division, but he added he was confident he players would rise to the challenge.

“We played two teams from the Premier Division in the cup last season and we did not disgrace ourselves at all,” he said.

“We lost to the team who came second, but we held our own and knocked a team out prior to that who were mid-table.

“I have stressed to the boys that in the Saturday league everyone is going to want to beat us as we won the league and cup and we are unbeaten.

“But I think we can stay in the Prem and target a mid-table finish.”

Any footballers, who are currently in Year 8 or 7 at school and considering joining Meadow Park, should contact Phil on 07934 440249 or email [email protected] to arrange a trial.
