A COLD wind blowing down the lake affected the weights in the Thursday Open on the Horseshoe lake at Alvechurch Fisheries but Richard Knowles on peg 32 did enough to put together a winning net of 57.15.

Fishing pole and maggot at 12m across a number of lines, Knowles landed a mixed bag of carp and barbel.

In second place was Mick Dukes on peg seven who fished bomb and maggot tactics up to the island for his all-carp net of 49.13.

Third placed Ron Taylor on peg five elected to fish a bomb and maggot attack for a few carp up to 6lb and stockies for 44.7.

Fishing off peg 28, Steve Bellion rotated pole and maggot over two lines to net a few carp and 27lb of barbel for 41.15 to come fourth.

Paul Gartshore on peg three fished pole and maggot at 14m to pick off a few carp and stockies for 37.15 and seal fifth spot and sixth was Les Ayres on peg 36 who opted to fish poke and maggot down to the aerator and out in front for his mixed bag of 37.8.

ROB GANDLEY of Sensus Stories dominated the Saturday Open on the Horseshoe as the continuing cold north east wind meant the smallest field of late assembled to compete and weights suffered as a result.

Fishing off peg 34, Gandley elected to fish long pole and maggot into the wind over two lines to pick off a few carp up to 8lb for his all-carp net of 59.0.

In second place was Warren Beach on peg three who fished long pole and maggot out in front over a number of lines for his all-carp net of 36.4 and third was Malcolm Taylor on peg five who fished bomb and maggot tactics for his all-carp net of 29.6.

Wayne Adams on peg 32 fished pole and maggot at 10m out in front for his all-carp net of 25.9 to come fourth and fifth was Tony Musticone on peg 26 who fished similar tactics out in front for a mixed bag of 22.13.

Sixth was Malcolm Brown on peg 36 who had a frustrating time off the in-form peg as he lost more fish than he brought to the scales for 21.15.
