White fished his way to glory last Thursday before fellow newcomer Gandley produced an emphatic performance in the Saturday Open to take the title.

Paul Gartshaw (peg 24) finished just a fish behind on 86lbs 10oz, while Warren Beach (peg 30) weighed in with 68lbs 1oz to secure fourth spot.

Gandley’s success followed another newcomer, White, who won by just 1lb. He fished fished alternate tactics off peg 26 switching from pole with worm and caster at 6 mts to paste down the first shelf to net a mixed bag of carp, ide and barbel for 70lbs.

Beach (peg 1) came second with 68lbs 7oz ahead of first timer Dave Kellon (peg 22), who finished with 57lbs 8oz after fishing a worm and caster attack down the first shelf and paste down both margins for his weight.
